Outline your business and entrepreneurial skills, including your relative achievements to date in running a business:

Rebecca is a Certified Neuro-Linguistic Programming Practitioner, Coach and Psychology BSc. Called ‘The Holistic Success Expert’, she combines her business, fitness and nutrition experience with NLP, neuroscience, positive and behavioral psychology to give business, relationship and life advice that empowers women to create the success they dream of. She is passionate about arming women with the confidence, belief, knowledge and the tools and strategies to help them create the lives they want, and deserve. Having started 3 businesses by the time I was 23, I think I’m a true entrepreneur at heart. AT 18 I wrote, produced, directed and acted in a play which I took to the Edinburgh Festival. At university, whilst studying for a BSc in psychology I started up a new student magazine. As soon as I left university I knew that I wanted to run my own business so I launched and ran my own successful fashion business and was then head hunted to become Brand Director for a leading lifestyle brand. I did this for around 5 years before realising I needed to be running my own business. Throughout this period, I continued my studies into Psychology, Self Development, Coaching, Neuroscience and Business Training theories, specifically focusing on their applications for women. I also trained to become a life coach and personal trainer. So in January 2014 I launched www.rebeccafredericks.com a self development business for women focusing on holistic success. The aim is to empower women to decide what success means to them, and then give them the tools to go out there and make it happen. Quickly I realised that the main areas of interest on the site were fitness, nutrition and self. So I decided to launch a sub brand bringing these elements together to help women to lose weight from the inside out and from the outside in, using psychology, exercise and healthy eating. Yesterday I launched www.rfweightlossbootcamps – which are 5 day no stay boot camps for women based in London. The boot camps teach women how to lose weight healthily and then keep it off forever. We provide all attendees with 1 month of free online training to support them afterwards including personalised fitness plans, nutrition plans and mind plans (psychology video training and exercises). All come with demo videos to show women how to do the exercises and make the meals.

Why do you have the ability to be an inspiring role model? Provide examples to illustrate:

I am a very passionate, warm, friendly, enthusiastic person and am always told that I inspire people to take action on their goals and to try things the may never have tried before. I have always been able to inspire people to work with me – from getting professional actors to act for free in my play at 18, to getting free advertising for my magazine at 20, to getting factories to work with me on extended payment terms at 23. I have always been able to inspire, motivate and encourage others to be their best. And that’s what my new business is all about: taking action to become the best version of themselves possible. I believe in taking action and I practice what I preach. I believe that there is a huge gap in the market for a health and fitness brand that isn’t extremist, that is about making small, practical and sustainable changes to help women become more active and more healthy. With the raising levels of obesity and heart disease in our country it’s time to educate people with the truth, not to sell them magic pills or unrealistic diet plans, but to teach them how to live a healthy life. And this cannot be done without psychological tools. Teaching them how to break bad habits, how to manage their state without food or alcohol, how to develop confidence, how to create the right belief system and mind sets. No other weight loss brand does this – and that’s why so many people fail. If people are moving their bodies in ways they enjoy, eating healthy foods they love and have the mindset and arsenal of tools to help them know that they are allowed to slip up, that they can cope with emotional situations without food, that they are in control of themselves – then weight loss is going to happen. I feel it is my responsibility to share this message. It’s not complicated. It’s not hard. Any one can do it if they have the right tools. And my team and I can help them.

What is your business / idea and what would you use the £5,000 towards if you were to win

My business is about helping women to become healthier, happier, more energised and improving their quality of life. The brand sells ‘weight loss’ because we know that this is what women want, but we deliver confidence, energy, and an increased passion for life. And we do this through offline boot camps and online training, all of which is customised to the individual. We have boot camps specifically for mothers and those specifically for brides to be as well as a more intensive package for other women, which includes treatments like detox wraps. And our approach is completely unique because we promote a lifestyle choice, one that utilises exercise, nutrition + psychology to help women to make those small changes in life, which all add up to long term, sustainable weight loss. The inside out component of our training means that in addition to the outside in physical side to weight loss, we also focus on the key psychological factors involved with successful weight management –the habits, the limiting beliefs, the lack of confidence, the mental blocks, the excuses…. All those things which conspire to stop people from losing the weight or sabotage their best endeavours at keeping it off. Together this has formed a holistic system for weight loss + weight management – a holistic system that will bring them an improved quality of life + greater levels of happiness with themselves. We focus on teaching women how to find and then do exercise that they enjoy, we teach them about food, about nutrition and how to cook quick, nutritious and delicious meals and we teach them how to think and behave healthily around food, how to manage their state without food or alcohol, how to break bad habits, how to overcome their own excuses and so much more. Because we know that losing and maintaining weight loss is about so much more than having a fitness and healthy eating plan. It’s about getting motivated, it’s about achievable goals, it’s about small changes that all add up to great transformation. I would put the money I won towards promoting the business, towards spreading the message, towards helping more people and perhaps even towards a premises where we can get a team of experts to work with women from one location to make it as simple, easy and effective for people as possible to learn how to healthily lose weight and keep it off.
