Jill Carter was named Britain’s Top Real Role Model 2012 , winning £10,000 for her social enterprise Pulp Friction Travelling Kitchen . A mobile catering business which offers on the job training and personal support to people with learning disabilities . The mobile community café operates at c ommunity events, farmers markets, parties, weddings and festivals across the UK .
Since winning the £10,000 in February, there has been growing interest in Pulp Friction Travelling Kitchen and key developments are:
- After winning the £10,000 the Travelling Kitchen Van was purchased
- A partnership with the Co-op is going well and have worked with them on events in Leicestershire, Norfolk, Solihull and Nottingham and Milton Keynes and Cambridgeshire soon recruited four new volunteers and have been able to offer summer employment to three more people
- Contacted by a local chef who wants to work with the Travelling Kitchen to develop the menu and support with getting into the ‘Street Food’ scene

Jill says, “I was so thrilled to have won Britain’s Top Real Role Model 2012. I feel passionate about supporting my local community and helping young adults with learning difficulties to gain a level of independence and work skills, and the money donated by Amway made such a huge difference in getting my initiative up and running and a real success.”
